When my second oldest sister was still alive, she was going to college for a very short time to be a dietician. One day she came home and told us that she had learned that if you are addicted to a certain food, one that you cannot stop yourself from eating, its because you are allergic to it.
WHAT?
First, lets discuss what an allergy is.
An allergy is when your body views a safe substance as a threat, and attacks it and releases antibodies to deal with the swelling and inflammation from the release of histamines.
All allergies are caused by the protein in the substance you are allergic to.
For instance, Pollen is plant sperm and contains large amounts of proteins.
If you have ever been to an allergist and had an allergy test, you will know that certain substances, like cigarette smoke, are not included, cause they cannot isolate any proteins in the smoke.
With all this being said, let me explain WHY addiction equals food allergy.
Have you ever eaten a huge bag of Fritos (especially those Chili Cheese OMG) and woke up the next day and felt like you had a hangover?
Well guess what? You did have a food hangover.
This is what happens

You take one bite of the Fritos,

Your body reacts and releases a few chemicals to inflame the stomach.

Your body realizes its becoming inflammed and releases HAPPY HORMONES, ENDORPHINS to deal with the pain of the inflammation.

You feel pepped up cause of the endorphins and subconsciously associate the Fritos with feeling happy. So you eat the whole bag

You go to bed, and overnight the endorphins wear off

You wake up feeling awful.

That night you feel you must eat more Fritos, since you felt so good last night eating them (cause of the endorphins) you are addicted to the endorphins even though you are causing yourself pain by the inflammation the Frito allergy is causing.

Years later your joints and muscles hurt, cause of the food allergy that youve been fueling,but ignoring for that endorphin high.
Did all that make sense?
Okay, good, lets move on to my proposal/theory that the same also is happening in the opiod addiction world...
First
Opiates refer to natural Opium products, Made from the latex of the Opium Poppy.
Like Morphine, Codeine and Heroin .
Opiods are synthetically manufactured faux Opiates, made from chemicals in a lab.
Like Percocet, Oxys, Fentanyl, Carfentanyl etc.
Did you notice that I said LATEX?
Yes Opium is a plant LATEX, its a rubbery sap that seeps from the poppy heads after the heads are cut with a knife

Leucine and Methionine are both amino acids: both building blocks of PROTEIN!
Again, PROTEINs cause ALLERGY in susceptible individuals and not others...

Methionine and leucine enkephalins, endogenous opiate-like compounds, may be important in understanding both drug and alcohol addiction. They, along with other peptides, have been posulated to be natural regulators of analgesia and euphoria. In addition, they seem to be vital factors in determining desire for alcohol. Knowing how enkephalins bind to opiate receptors, i.e., which atoms and/or hydrophobic groups are necessary to interact with receptor atoms, would facilitate the conception and synthesis of new compounds with these same binding features. We have determined the three-dimensional structure of leucine enkephalin in a highly solvated physiological-like environment. We will now undertake the elucidation of the crystal and molecular structures of a number of modified enkephalin analogues. Their three-dimensional stereochemistries will be compared with each other, with leucine-enkephalin, and with a number of opiates, opiate agonists and antagonists. Conclusions as to which stereochemical features of the enkephalins are necessary for these compounds to bind to opiate Mu and Delta receptors are expected to provide the basis for the design of new potentially non-addictive opiate agonists for the treatment of drug and alcohol addiction.

So my theory is that SUSCEPTIBLE individuals are
allergic/sensitive (and might get inflammation from) LEUCINE AND
METHIONINE protein components! Or that in susceptible individuals they produce addiction.
Lets move on to CURING addiction...
ALLERGY SHOTS
The only so called CURE for allergies is Allergy Desensitizing Shots.
They inject you with a micro dose of your allergen and your body slowly starts to build an immunity to it and over time you no longer are as deathly allergic to your allergen.
Since addiction equals allergy, I propose that Allergy Shots should be created from the proteins in Opiods or other drugs, to make the need for rehab and treatment necessary.
And if they could isolate the allergen that causes the immune system to kill the pancreas off causing Diabetes 1, they could create an allergy shot for that as well
So, in closing, I believe that the protein and/or amino acids in Opium Latex and Synthetic Opiod Peptides are causing an allergy that causes the body to become inflammed and release endorophins and causes the addictive process to begin.
The cure is out there. Lets find it.
