 Im 59 years old.

This am at 4, I woke up and watched the Hannah Alonzo HBH video to go back to sleep and while Im glad she did this video, there are things that annoy me. And they annoy me when I watch MOST critiques on Food Bloggers that I see.

I grew up in the 60s-70s and 80s. I grew up around a VERY famous restaurant. My Mom was a prize winning cook. Shes not allowed to enter the Pillsbury Bake Off again, cause shes been in it too much. She also apprenticed with famous chefs at cooking conventions and demos. Paula Wolfert, Christina Perillo, Biba, Sarah Moulton etc. And Ive worked in numerous restaurants, both as a cook and a waitress.

SOME of Hannahs critiques feel like a 14 yr old who has eaten Cresent Rolls and just discovered Croissants in Paris and thinks they know everything about Paris. Hannahs great in her MLM influencer Lane, but shes not a Foodie.

Too many times lately, I see the younger generations complaining and being alarmed about things that arent issues.

And Hannah did complain about things that werent issues:

1) Most Americans in the 70s-80s called them GYROS, with a hard G. At Saint Sophias Greek Orthodox Churches Food and Fun Fair, I heard GYRO with a hard G. Its the American pronunciation. Like in Illinois they say DEZ PLAYNES and not Duh Plane for Des Planes. FoyER vs FoyYay.

2) Perhaps the reason some of HBHs recipes dont work as written or are weird is because Silverthorne Colorado is HIGH ALTITUDE and she doesnt tell people that. Thats probably not the case but its something to consider.

3) People make baked goods with Blackstrap Molasses all the time, it literally says FOR BAKING on the Amazon sale page.



4) Toasting dry pasta in a pan is used regularly. Rice a Roni for one, you toast the pasta and rice in a pan then add the water. All'Assasina Pasta is BURNED. Many posts on Google showing people toasting dry pasta in the oven to make it toasty and nutty.

5) Hannah says that HBHs Peruvian Chicken isnt PERUVIAN. Oh yes it is. Side by side, HBH and SeriousEats Peruvian Chicken recipe is almost identical. Most Peruvian Chicken recipes on Google are similar.



6) Lastly, again, I think people complain too much about plagiarism that ISNT plagiarism. Clearly HBH does plagiarize (the cranberry matcha cookies etc) but growing up around chefs, and cookbook authors and cooking contestants, Im letting Hannah know that MOST of them take other peoples recipes for a BASE and change them around. It is very difficult to make new recipes without using BASE recipes. 
Take for instance HUMMUS. There are very FEW basic hummus recipes that are different. Emerils, Saras, MilkStreets are all carbon copies.
Kate Gosselin copied one of those Hummus recipes and just multiplied it 3 times and thats why the recipe in her horrible book, said 9 Tablespoons Tahini, because it was clearly an attempt on plagiarizing. She just took Emerils and multiplied it, but forgot to just say 1/2 cup Tahini.

Look, There are many many things about HBH that are super problematic (Appropriation, Outright Plagiarism, whispers of MAGA, her ED, the bloody arms) but Hannah is picking on things that are essentially HOW BILLIONS OF PEOPLE innovate and create new recipes.

Fry pasta in a pan to see what happens. Take a basic vanilla cake from AllRecipes.com and turn it into Woodruff Scented Whoopie Pies. Is that plagiarism of AllRecipes? NO. Switch up a few ingredients in a simple family mac and cheese. Hell, I candied pearl onions one time, I battered and Fried Watermelon. 

The argument is invalid 

Its faux outrage! 

Its like when we were all 12 or 13 and stumbled upon a Playboy in our Moms closet. We were naive and alarmed, "OMG our moms a lesbian or OMG shes a PERVERT" then when we grow up we are watching porn on Twitter ourselves at College after having a 3some. Its childish to think that every thing someone does is an egregious ERROR and needs to be cancelled for.

The real issue I see is HOW we got to the place where all these white young women are doing the same shit on YT, Insta and Blogger. 

If you are a white woman whose family ancestry in from the UK, Ireland, Scotland, Isle Of Man, Wales etc. and you make Asian, Mexican, Middle Eastern etc recipes. 

Its ALL CULTURAL APPROPRIATION.

Their families all came here to Turtle island in the 1600s, they learned to farm and cook from The Native Americans first. Corn, Tomatoes, Jerky .....Then when farming the hot southern fields was too much for their fragile white bodies, they brought in black slaves who COOKED for the white pampered women. So white girls took ownership of all the southern dishes the slaves invented and brought from Africa. They embraced APPROPRIATION and profited. They marry young, and dont develop their own culture. Whereas the white immigrants up north are Italian, Europeans and Russians and Jews with their own culture. Bring in Greeks, Arabs and Asians and they too have their own national foods and cultures. White Conservative Daughters of Colonization and Slave Masters dont have any authentic culture of their own, its all stolen from Natives, Mexicans, and Slaves.
And from each other. 
White conservative colonists dont have their own culture. 
British food has a lot of Potatoes and Indian Food. Potatoes came from the Americas. So the White Colonists are appropriating, America and India. 

So, what is authentic BRITISH food? Fried fish and Roast Chicken? 

Even Ranch Dressing was invented by African Americans.

What is WHITE COLONIST COOKING AND CULTURE?
White Colonist Food is British Food, simple, unspicy, unextravagant, Cooked veg, Roast Potatoes, Roast meat. Strawberry crumble. Maybe something with cheddar.
DINER FOOD! Eggs, Bacon, Toast, Pot Pies, Berry Crumbles, Rich Cream and Butter, Cheeses.
All things that the German Amish do exceptionally well as well. 
So where do we go from here?

We see what is happening. Everytime we search Google for some recipe the first 10 results are white girls. A lot of them with EDs and Rich Parents. Who probably pay to keep them on top.

White Colonists need to understand that their time is coming to an end. The world is tired of them.

The trillionaires, the guns, the hate, the stealing of ideas.

White colonist parents have the most estrangements with their kids. More than any other group. Their families are all fractured, no one is ever happy. The narcissistic parenting Vlogging and HOM Reality shows are almost exclusively WHITE.

Im half a White Colonist and Im sick of us. 

Let the others take over and evolve!
