Look, before I say anything I have to tell you that I am going to make Jodi sympathetic. I am not saying she is not guilty or horrible. She IS!
BUT!
I have to make you feel for her in order to stop people like Jodi from forming in the future and to show who caused Jodis self hate and twisted thinking.
Jodi Hildebrandt is a lesbian, and she was raped by a male family member.
But she was raised a fundy Mormon, so she hates herself for being a lesbian which LDS thinks is evil, so Jodi hates the evil in her, and she hates men for raping her.
I know this is controversial but a lot of the shame in rape or molestation is that our bodies cant help the way we respond to someone touching us in intimate places, and like Oprah said of her own childhood molestation, "Its confusing for the child, cause it hurts but parts of it feel good"
Our sexual body parts are designed for ONE THING, pleasure, and they cannot distinguish between a rapist or a lover touching you.
I think this is the number one STIGMA with rape that makes people not report and ultimately be ashamed and never tell. Plus because of this, they think they caused it.
So again, Jodi is deeply ashamed that her body betrayed her in that way. She was assaulted as a child and her body confused her. So she thinks children are capable of sexual evil. Rape sometimes causes people to be oversexed and promiscuous and be addicted to masturbation, and She probably thought she was evil as a child because she might have masturbated and the Mormon Church kept telling her she was evil and caused her rape and that Lesbianism was evil...This is why she abused her niece and the Franke kids for masturbating. She felt evil. And she thought men were evil...
ALL BECAUSE OF THE CHURCH.
And it all goes back to the church. The church made her evil.
