Let me say a few words about this post.
I try to never make a Custom Funko Pop of People who already have one. That includes Customs.
I was the first person that made a Custom Culture Club Set
This was my first Custom Funko Pop I ever made
There was no Boy George Funko Pop when I made this.
BUT Its destroyed my love for Boy George.
First, I am not a rabid fan of celebrities. I grew up in a family where my Uncle was a celebrity and I lived next door to an Oscar winner and around the corner from a 1950s Doo Wop band lead singer with Gold Records Aplenty. So I know celebs are just regular, albeit flawed or nutty people... So Im not impressed by celebrity.
Nevertheless, I do love and Stan some celebs.
Elton John
Boy George
David Letterman
and others...
So, I became a fan of Boy George in 1982 when he was on Letterman and became a huge fan. Then I started following Boy George on Twitter in 2010 when he first got Twitter, he and I chatted a few times and he Followed me, he had just ate lunch at Elton Johns house and we had a small chat about that.
I left Twitter in 2013 after being stalked by PRO KATE GOSSELIN FANS.
Side Note: I was an insider on Jon and Kate Plus 8, and became an activist for the kids because former friends, coworkers, family and neighbors of the Gosselins were worried and the shit they were telling us on private boards was upsetting. They WANTED our help.
To Millennials and GenZers, Kate Gosselin was the OG Karen, Ruby Franke and Joan Crawford.
So, I had to leave Twitter in 2013. I returned 2 yrs later and got tangled up into being one of the Comedy Snarkers on the #OakIslandCursers Tv snark Twitter Hashtag Group for the Tv Show "The Curse Of Oak Island"
We would all snark on the show when it aired and the cast of the show would like our comments and chat with us etc. We all started following each other. I was a popular snarker.
(By the time I returned, Boy George had a much bigger following and followed much more people than he did in 2010, so it became hard to chit chat. )
The Oak Island Curser Fam was extremely fun until Election Time. And then I had to block all of them and walked away again, then I returned and shortly after, was diagnosed with CPTSD cause of all my trauma in my life.
Look, I hate confrontation, hate it.
But because they started following me, they started commenting back to me when I spoke about politics and social issues away from the show. I also got attacked in DMs. SCARY.
So, I blocked everyone of my Oak Island Curser friends, not just the creeps and conservatives, but the liberals and good ones too, because I didnt want to destroy the Curser Group.
Dont wanna be the one who destroyed it, so I blocked and stepped away
I have to ask tho.
"Why do married men studying to be pastors or pastors themselves always get creepy with women? Always switching names online, deleting pics etc., Why?
Weird.
Anyway, I came back and during Covid, I got really into watching Boy George videos on YouTube and reading articles.
I was annoying my Twitter Followers with all my Boy George Posts, so I created another Twitter Culture Club/BoyGeorge fan account and started posting over there.
By then George had enlisted a few fans to be his Twitter go between to send him posts they thought he would be interested in so he could see them.
I started posting pics from my 1980s Culture Club scrapbook and the fans went WILD for them.
I told him about Native American #TwoSpirit Culture and he said, something about gentleness and followed me on the new account too.
And then I discovered Funko Pops cause my fave (Elton John) had one out and so I looked up to see if they have a Boy George one and no they didnt, so I decided to make one and thats what I made above.
I Tweeted that pic to him and NOTHING.
BUT the FANS ERUPTED IN DELIGHT!
They Loved them!
They bombarded Boy George with retweets of my post for several weeks and he NEVER COMMENTED ONCE!
I then submitted the pic to the Official Culture Club Fan Art account and again NOTHING.
Look, I am not attacking another creatives art, but Boy George featured THIS in the Culture Club Fan Art
So hes not adverse to Funko Pops, but come onnnnnnnnn
