True Crime: Jean Spangler

Read these snipettes from Jeans Wikipedia Page

Jean Elizabeth Spangler (September 2, 1923 – disappeared October 7, 1949) was an American actress who appeared in bit parts in several Hollywood films in the late 1940s. She garnered public attention for her mysterious disappearance in late 1949.

On the evening of October 7, 1949, Spangler left her home in Los Angeles, telling her sister-in-law that she was going to meet with her ex-husband before going to work as an extra on a film set. She was last seen alive at a grocery store several blocks from her home at approximately 6:00 p.m. Two days later, Spangler's tattered purse was discovered in a remote area of Griffith Park, approximately 5.5 miles (8.9 km) from her home; inside was a letter addressed to a "Kirk", which mentioned seeing a doctor. Given Spangler's recent work on the film Young Man with a Horn starring Kirk Douglas, he called police to clear his name, telling them he was in Palm Springs at the time, which police accepted.[1]

Neither "Kirk" nor "Dr. Scott" could be located, and neither Spangler's family nor her friends knew anyone by those names. When Spangler's mother, Florence, returned to Los Angeles, she told police that someone named "Kirk" had picked up Jean at her house twice but stayed in his car and did not come in. Police questioned every doctor with the last name Scott in Los Angeles, but none of them had a patient with the last name Spangler or Benner, her married name. Spangler had once been involved with an abusive man she called "Scotty", but her lawyer said she had not seen him since 1945.[10] Griffith Park was searched over the following week by over 200 volunteers and law enforcement.[8] During the search, one volunteer's dog dug up a denim Los Angeles County Jail uniform in a shallow hole, but no other belongings of Spangler were found.[8]

At the time she disappeared, Spangler had recently completed filming a bit part in the film Young Man with a Horn starring Kirk Douglas; this led to public speculation that he was the Kirk mentioned in the note found in her purse.[7] Upon reading about the discovery of the note, Douglas himself called the police and denied that he knew Spangler.[7][11][12] Later, when interviewed via telephone by the head of the investigating team, Douglas admitted that he had "talked and kidded with her a bit" on set,[13][14] but that he had never spent time with her outside of the film production.[6] On October 12, Douglas gave a formal press statement in which he said: "I told Detective Chief Thad Brown that I didn't remember the girl or the name until a friend recalled it was she who worked as an extra in a scene with me in my picture Young Man with a Horn ... then I recalled that she was a tall girl in a green dress. I talked and kidded with her a bit on the set ... But I never saw her before or after that and have never been out with her."[15]

SO KIRK DOUGLAS LIED 3 TIMES TO POLICE?

Spangler's friends told police that she was three months pregnant when she disappeared and that she had talked about having an abortion, which at the time was illegal.[4] Witnesses, who frequented the same nightclubs and bars as Spangler, told police they had heard of a former medical student known as "Doc", who performed abortions for money, but police could not locate him, nor prove that he existed.[6] The theory that Spangler disappeared under circumstances related to a botched abortion attempt was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).[7] Spangler had also told her friend, actor Robert Cummings, that she was having a casual affair at the time, but did not mention the identity of the man.[15] When Cummings asked her if it was serious, she responded: "No. But I'm having the time of my life."[15]

NEXT, LETS READ A SNIPETTE FROM ACTRESS NATALIE WOODS WIKIPEDIA ENTRY:

Rape allegation

Suzanne Finstad's 2001 biography of Wood alleges that she was raped by a powerful actor when she was 16, but in it, Finstad did not name the assailant.[85][86] Through the recollection of Wood's close friends, which included actors Scott Marlowe and Dennis Hopper, Finstad said:

Though her five close friends' memories of some details or timing differ after forty-five years, the essence of what each recalls Natalie confiding to them is the same: that the same married film star lured or tricked Natalie, raped her so brutally she was physically injured, and she was too frightened or intimidated to report it to the police. Natalie "hated" her former screen idol afterward, "shuddering" if she heard his name. She would keep the horrible secret, and behave as if nothing happened whenever their paths intersected, too schooled by Mud [her mother] in the politics of Hollywood to cross a powerful movie star.[78]

During a 12-part podcast about Wood's life in July 2018, Wood's sister Lana stated that Wood was raped as a teenager, and she also stated that the attack had occurred inside the Chateau Marmont during an audition and it went on "for hours".[87] According to Professor Cynthia Lucia, who studied the claim, Wood's rape was brutal and violent.[88] In 2021, a year after the death of Kirk Douglas, Lana published the memoir Little Sister: My Investigation Into the Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood and identified Douglas as Wood's alleged assailant.[89]

SO IF KIRK DOUGLAS RAPED NATALIE WOODS, AND LIED TO COPS 3 TIMES ABOUT KNOWING A MISSING PREGNANT WOMAN WHO HAD A NOTE ADDRESSED TO KIRK AND KIRK CAME TO THE HOUSE BUT NEVER GOT OUT OF THE CAR, AND JEAN TOLD FRIENDS SHE WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR, THEN WHO COULD IT BE BUT KIRK DOUGLAS???
